Are Dunk and Egg in House of the Dragon?
No, Dunk and Egg are not in House of the Dragon, despite also being a prequel to A Game of Thrones. The timeline doesn’t line up; in fact, the adventures Dunk and Egg embark on won’t happen for another hundred years, give or take a decade, after House of the Dragon. House of the Dragon begins in 112 AC; Aegon V Targaryen (that’s Egg) won’t be born for another 88 years, in 200 AC. Afterward, he ascended the Iron Throne in 233 AC. Duncan the Tall (that’s Dunk) is born much sooner, but only by nearly a decade. Though House of the Dragon and Dunk and Egg are far removed from each other on the timeline, the events of House of the Dragon do have an influence on Duncan and Aegon V. Egg is a direct descendant of Rhaenyra Targaryen (portrayed by Milly Alcock and Emma D’Arcy) and, in turn, a direct descendant of King Viserys I (portrayed by Paddy Considine). Now you understand why Dunk and Egg are not in House of the Dragon. There’s an entire history that could be adapted just on their adventures alone, which George R. R. Martin explored in novellas.
